Codemasters has departed from its successful X-Games concept and instead returned to Colin McRae Rally Series. Colin McRae is dead. His name is so removed picked from the title,, but his spirit lives on. Not least because Codemasters partially reverted to its old recipe where coarse gravel rally based forest dominated the studio’s rally game, and not X Games rally cross.
Gone are the extreme sports fragrant presentation, gone is even the cozy mobile home in which the basis that as an aspiring rally king. New in the Dirt 3 is the green line on the road from the Forza games. Why you would need it when you already have a co-driver is an enigma. Fortunately, you can opt out.
Another important detail typical of Dirt series, which was deleted from Dirt 3 packed is Ken Block and Travis Pastrana’s encouraging guidance through the game’s career mode. Instead of Travis buttery voice, a British girl who occasionally interrupted by a manager whose operation is so meaningless that you almost choke.
The menus are white, with some green in. You select races in the form of triangles that float in the air. It is aesthetically gorgeous but boring. Overall this game feels more like a return to the old Colin McRae Rally games than an outright third in the Dirt Series.
