Bubble Bobble Double (iPhone)

Classic candy dragons Bubble Bobble are back with fruits, ghosts and an army of soap bubbles on Iphone.

Is there a more retro arcade classic than Bubble Bobble? Although the years have gone by the basic formula always survived through thick and thin in countless editions, sequels, remakes and spin-offs.

After all, why fix something that is not broke? Now it’s time for the popular duo making serious ground in the mobile games world of Bubble Bobble Double. A game that is not to be confused with the Nintendo DS game Bubble Bobble Double Shot.

If we start with the new game, it’s a neat little story where you get to play as the green dragon bubs who seems caught in some sort of space-like limbo. Well here he is attacked by enemies from the original who want him badly.

To defend him tap easily on enemies and puts them in a soap bubble. This bubble, you can then destroy with the enemy or you can snap away on the other enemies and try to make larger bubbles with bunches of enemies. As you understood then detonate then enjoying the combo meter goes up, the score rattles up and the fruit falling on the plan.

It is a nice little twist on the classic game that mixes the original with a loose version of the classic Tower Defence. The lines follow each other with lightning speed as a kind of gaming’s candy. The presentation is an impressive update of the original classic and the music is up to date and sets the tone puzzles on the fly when it is mixed with a timeless sound effects.

The game also has a really robust online mode, which invites further play for points. As for the classic arcade game very little that goes to say that has not already been said. It’s Bubble Bobble, a good game. Unfortunately, the emulation of the game is quite weak with poorly implemented controls and a ridiculously small window.
